About The Webinar

In this webinar, Dr. Bruce Kehr, founder and president of Potomac Psychiatry, will join Dr. Craig Shimasaki, PhD, MBA, for a presentation on immune-mediated psychiatric conditions and the association between infections, autoimmunity and certain neuropsychiatric symptoms.

Root Cause Psychiatry and Treatment-Resistant Psychiatric Illness: The Role of The Cunningham Panel in Diagnosis and Successful Treatment

Bruce A. Kehr, MD
Bruce A. Kehr, MD

Dr. Kehr will discuss two complex cases of treatment-resistant depression with other psychiatric comorbidities. The patients had failed prior treatment initiatives. But in utilizing a Root Cause Psychiatry approach, an underlying biological basis for the patients’ symptoms was systematically identified and successfully treated.

Molecular Mimicry: How infections can trigger autoimmune encephalitis and neuropsychiatric symptoms

Dr. Craig Shimasaki
Dr. Craig Shimasaki, PhD, MBA

Dr. Shimasaki will briefly review how the biological mechanism of molecular mimicry can lead to the production of autoantibodies, resulting in neuropsychiatric symptoms. He will also discuss how the diagnosis and treatment of underlying infections, inflammation and immune dysfunction can result in significant symptom improvement and how the Cunningham Panel can be utilized to help identify and treat these patients.
